in april 2014, station announced going revamp set. after few weeks of broadcasting temporary set put in newsroom, new set debuted. old set removed , new set constructed fx group. set major departure prior set, debuted in 2006. 1 major change made elimination of newsroom backdrop anchor desk. on september 29, 2014, wptz debuted nightly 10:00 p.m. newscast airs on both valley cw (5.2) , valley s metv (5.3) simultaneously.


on june 20, 2016, wptz debuted half-hour midday 12:00 p.m. newscast, became second television station in champlain valley complete 10-minute newscast on wcax-tv, coinciding cancellation of fablife. on august 2, 2016 following station rebrand nbc 5 , newscast branding named nbc 5 news.
