sense science launched keep libel laws out of science campaign in june 2009 in defence of member of board of trustees, author , journalist simon singh, has been sued libel british chiropractic association. issued statement entitled law has no place in scientific disputes , signed many people representing science, medicine, journalism, publishing, arts, humanities, entertainment, sceptics, campaign groups , law. in april 2010, bca lost case court accepting criticism of bca concerning promotion of bogus treatments fair comment.


in december 2009, sense science, index on censorship , english pen launched libel reform campaign. defamation act 2013 received royal assent on 25 april 2013 , came force on 1 january 2014.


the trust actively campaigns in support of various causes. has issued statement signed on 35 scientists asking condemn homeopathy diseases such hiv.
