in 1965, canadian postal workers illegally walked out 2 weeks , won right collective bargaining public sector employees. resulted in them throwing out leadership of company union , forming canadian union of postal workers.


on march 23, 2012, air canada ground employees walked off job @ toronto pearson international airport, resulting in many flight delays, after 3 workers suspended heckling canadian labour minister lisa raitt. followed months of fighting between air canada , other unions.


united states of america

wildcat strikes have been considered illegal in united states since 1935. 1932 norris-la guardia act held clauses in labor contracts barring employees joining unions not enforceable, granting employees right unionize regardless of workplace situation. unions have power bargain collectively on behalf of members , call strikes demanding concessions employers. under 1935 national labor relations act (nlra), federal courts have held wildcat strikes illegal , employers may fire workers participating in them.


nevertheless, workers can formally request national labor relations board end association labor union, if feel union not adequately representing interests. @ point, strike action taken workers may termed wildcat strike, there no illegality involved, there no longer conflict between sections 7 and 9(a) of nlra.


some strikes begin wildcat actions, such memphis sanitation strike , baltimore municipal strike of 1974, later supported respective unions leadership (who begin fulfilling obligation collectively bargain worker-members).
