male

the upperside of male dark purplish brown. forewings , hindwings have black anteciliary lines. hindwing has 2 black spots equal, 1 in interspace 1 , other in interspace 2. spots have silvery white edge on outerside. tail black tipped white.


the underside hoary brown. on underside of forewing there transverse bands of ground colour defined fine white lines follows:



a band across middle of cell extended subcostal vein vein 1
a short band defining , enclosing discocellulars , bisinuate discal band extended veins 1 7; succeeding these inner , outer subterminal series of transversely elongate spots darker ground colour , slender black anticiliary line
each row of subterminal series of spots obscurely bordered inwardly , outwardly whitish.

the hindwing has transverse bands of ground colour enclosed , defined on forewing short slender lunular lines of white follows:



a subbasal band across cell, @ apex of cell extended vein 8 vein 1, , abruptly turned upward , terminating on dorsal margin;
a discal band irregular , sinuate vein 8 vein l, bent upwards dorsum; beyond these inner , outer subterminal series of white lunules, inner series obscure, of outer series lunules in interspaces 1, 2, , 3 prominent

interspace 1 has 2 minute geminate (paired) black subterminal spots, interspace 2 1 large round black similar spot crowned inwardly ochraceous , irrorated outwardly few metallic blue scales; slender terminal white line not extended apex , anticiliary dark line.


antennae black, shafts minutely ringed white; head, thorax, , abdomen dark brown; beneath: palpi fringed black hairs, thorax fuscous, abdomen dull white.


female

the female has upperside dull leaden blue. forewings , hindwings have anteciliary black lines in male, within on forewing obscure transverse subterminal series of black spots; on hindwing slender terminal white line, subterminal row of black spots , postdiscal series of white lunules, spots decreasing in size , lunules obsolescent anteriorly. underside: ground colour paler markings, more obscure identical of male. antennae, head, thorax , abdomen in male paler in colour.
