the usa sevens, largest annual rugby tournament in north america, has been held in sam boyd stadium every year since 2010. tournament had been held in late january or february until 2016, when moved current date of first full weekend in march. usa sevens, 1 of events in annual world rugby sevens series rugby sevens circuit, moved las vegas san diego, had been held. 2012 usa sevens drew on 64,000 fans stadium , broadcast live on nbc. sevens world series annual series of tournaments national sevens teams, events featuring 16 teams competing 2 distinct trophies.


the 2017 edition marked start of new era sevens in las vegas. first time, usa sevens joined usa women s sevens, both tournaments being held on same weekend @ sam boyd stadium. usa women s sevens has been part of world rugby women s sevens series since circuit s creation in 2012–13; first edition had been held in houston before moving suburban atlanta next 3 editions.
