Route description Fenway (parkway)
westernmost end of fenway near brookline avenue.
the fenway begins @ intersection of brookline avenue , riverway, heading southeast 3 one-way lanes past emmanuel college intersection avenue louis pasteur. there, left , right lanes become turn-only , middle lane continues straight. traffic in left-turn-only lane changes direction , joins paralleling park drive along oncoming traffic traveling northeast on fenway. after turn-lane drops, road becomes two-way 1 lane in each direction past simmons college , isabella stewart gardner museum. turns northeast @ louis prang street , becomes one-way two-lane road passes museum of fine arts , parts of northeastern university. short spur connects parkway westland avenue , there continues two-way road 2 lanes in each direction past berklee college of music , boston conservatory, ending @ boylston street. @ boylston street intersection stands monument of journalist, novelist , poet john boyle o reilly constructed in 1897.
the fenway runs alongside muddy river entire length , river continues in stone-paved channel surrounded narrow strip of parklands, toward connection charles river. in series of stone bridges , tunnels, passes under boylston street, massachusetts turnpike, commonwealth avenue, storrow drive, , series of elevated connecting ramps known bowker overpass (charelsgate) before joining charles. park drive, located on other side of bay fens, allows continuous travel in opposite direction of fenway. begins near fenway ends @ boylston street , enters same intersection @ brookline avenue fenway begins.
