since commissioning, drummond has served in u.s. coast guard’s busiest district , has been decorated involvement in variety of operations. in 1992 , 1994, drummond awarded u.s. coast guard meritorious unit commendation while working other u.s. coast guard , u.s. navy units combined safe interdiction of on 20,502 haitian migrants @ sea.


originally homeported in port canaveral, florida, drummond s home port changed key west in summer of 2002. typical patrols in key west s area of operations involved search , rescue, alien migrant interdiction operations, fisheries law enforcement, counter narcotics operations, , homeland security. more recently, shifted homeports miami beach in support of coast guard s new effort maximize operational hours of patrol boats in seventh district utilizing dual-crew manning concept.
