the film opens in 1683 massachusetts 3 women in town of devonsville kidnapped townsfolk , systematically tortured , executed. after final woman s execution, apparition appears in sky , thunderstorm begins.


then, 300 years later, dr. warley (pleasence) investigates witch s purported curse on devonsville. 3 liberated, assertive women move town, angers bigoted, male-dominated town fathers. 1 of women reincarnation of witch, proceeds exact revenge on town males. meanwhile, dr. warley fights supernatural illness resulting lineage town s founding fathers responsible execution.
