the university of nevada, las vegas (unlv) rebels (the name runnin rebels used men s basketball team) host mountain west conference events on unlv campus , 8 miles (13 km) east, @ sam boyd stadium. indoor sporting events held @ thomas & mack center complex, both @ main arena , @ cox pavilion, smaller arena attached complex.


the college of southern nevada (csn) coyotes host scenic west athletic conference events on csn campus @ william r. morse stadium , @ heritage park both in henderson.


the city has become regional hub college basketball conference tournaments. mountain west conference (mw) holds annual tournaments both men , women @ thomas & mack center. las vegas hosted tournaments first 7 years of mw s existence, tournaments returning las vegas in 2009 after 3 years in denver. in 2009 west coast conference, not have team in nevada, moved men s , women s tournaments orleans arena. western athletic conference moved both of tournaments las vegas in 2011. wac plays @ orleans arena.


on march 14, 2012 las vegas review-journal reported pac-12 conference moving men s basketball conference tournament las vegas in 2013, played @ mgm grand garden arena. tournament remained @ venue through 2016 edition, after moved t-mobile arena.

despite state of nevada having no collegiate wrestling itself, many of prestigious college wrestling events held in area each year. cliff keen las vegas invitational tournament has been held in city since 1981. of nations best wrestling teams, such michigan, nebraska, virginia tech, minnesota, iowa state, ohio state , northern iowa attend event. nearby reno, holds huge wrestling tournament every year both collegiate , high school wrestling known reno tournament of champions.


vegas, has been home many international amateur wrestling events. in 2015, vegas held world wrestling championships @ orleans arena.
