on 21 july 2005, would-be bomber muktar said ibrahim attempted explode device contained in rucksack on number 26 bus on hackney road in bethnal green near shoreditch. small explosion on top deck caused vehicle s windows explode, device did not detonate intended , there no significant damage. vehicle, operated stagecoach london, stopped , 200-yard safety cordon established while bomb defused.


ibrahim left bus following failed attack, later caught. , 5 other men taken court in january 2007, , dna found on battery used in bomb. convicted in july 2007 , sentenced life imprisonment.
