salma sultan gave first news of assassination of indira gandhi on doordarshan s evening news on 31 october 1984, more 10 hours after shot. alleged r. k. dhawan, mrs. gandhi s secretary, overruled intelligence , security officials had ordered removal of sikh policemen, including eventual assassins, security threat.


beant singh 1 of gandhi s favourite guards, whom had known ten years. other assassin, satwant singh, 22 years old when assassination occurred , had been assigned gandhi s guard 5 months before assassination.
