male upperside pale brown flushed shining purple. forewings , hindwings: purple gloss not extended dorsum of hindwing nor costal , terminal margins of either wing, of narrowly edged pale brown of ground colour, beyond along termen of both wings slender anticiliary lines. cilia pale, bases brown. underside: dull brown. forewing: 2 short crenulate (scalloped) lines transversely across middle of cell , 2 similar lines along discocellulars, followed transverse, irregular, catenulated (chain-like), discal band darker ground colour , margined inwardly , outwardly slender white lines; terminal markings: subterminal line of spots darker ground colour , margined white lines; basal posterior half of wing below cell immaculate; finally, anticiliary dark brown line. hindwing: following transverse, crenulate, slender white lines, between each pair of ground colour darker: oblique pair @ base, pair along discocellulars , irregular sinuous discal pair, last dislocated @ vein 6, posterior portion curved , shifted outwards; these followed subterminal inner , outer series of arrow-shaped lunules , anticiliary dark line, last slender inner whitish edging; finally, minute block spot near termen in interspace 1a; similar spot in interspace 1 , larger round black spot in interspace 2; these spots touched white on inner side. antenna black, shafts speckled white; head, thorax , abdomen brown purplish on thorax , abdomen; beneath: palpi, thorax , abdomen dusky brownish white.

geographical form of prosotas nora, felder, external margin less convex in fore wing. upperside: both wings brownish fuscous. fore wing interno-basal patch subtriangular. hind wing basal patch violaceous, blue, marginal spots more obscure, usual extra-caudal 1 excepted, obsolete. underside: both wings hoary fuscescent; discocellular spot (in hind wing rather narrow), chain-shaped fascia beyond middle once broken antico-basal fasciole, on fore wing not going beyond median nervure, , basal fascia on hind wing composed of 4 spots , within anterior incomplete spot fuscous, circled whitish filled ground-colour, fuscous marginal spots (in hind wing more triangular), extra-caudal 1 larger , minute black anal pair on hind wing excepted, circled whitish, set upon concolorous spots, lunate in fore wing , sagittate in hind wing, fuscous marginal line , whitish line before cilia cut through fuscous spots @ tips of veins.
