male upperside: purplish brown or purplish dark tint, specimens brown slight purplish sheen seen in lights. forewings , hindwings: uniform, both slender black anticiliary lines, hindwing in addition costal , dorsal margins paler; in specimens subterminal black spot in interspace 2, seen transparency underside; tail black tipped white. underside: brown, hoary, brownish or pale dull brown. forewing: subbasal pair of transverse white strigae, shorter pair along discocellulars , discal pair; these strigae narrowly edged on inner sides of each pair fuscous gives appearance of transverse bands darker ground colour; subbasal pair extend vein 1 vein 12, discocellular pair upper lower apex of cell , discal pair irregular , dislocated @ each vein, whole having appearance of dark sinuous band; terminal markings faint , ill defined or again prominent , consisting of double subterminal series of transversely linear, lunular, dark spots, edgings paler ground colour; lastly, anticiliary dark line. hindwing: transverse pairs of white, inwardly fuscous-edged strigae similar on forewing, more irregular , broken; subbasal pair extended costa vein 1, below dorsal area whitish, discocellular pair extend costa , posteriorly coalesce discal pair irregular , dislocated in forewing; terminal markings similar on forewing, double subterminal series of dark spots more lunular , prominent round black subterminal spot crowned ochraceous in interspace 2. antenna, head, thorax , abdomen dark brown; shafts of antennae speckled white; beneath: palpi fringed black, thorax dark greyish brown, abdomen white.






female upperside: brownish purple, fuscous. forewings , hindwings: in male anticiliary dark lines, differ follows: forewing: iridescent bluish sheen base outwards disc; hindwing; slender more or less prominent white line edging anticiliary black line on inner side, sub terminal geminate (paired) double black spot in interspace 1 , similar larger single spot in interspace 2. underside: ground colour paler , brighter in male, markings similar more neatly , more defined; both forewings , hindwings in of specimens have white terminal line before anticiliary dark line. antennae, head, thorax , abdomen in male.
