the club re-formed before 1885 season, combining adelaide , suburban football association (asfa) club north park again field team in safa. new team finished last out of 4 teams in 1885, surprised of competition claim safa premiership in 1886 under captaincy of j. d. stephens.


adelaide involved in experimental night game played under electric lights @ adelaide oval on 1 july 1885. beat south adelaide 1 goal 8 behinds 8 behinds.


adelaide finished third out of 7 teams in each of next 3 seasons, playing matches against visiting victorian football association (vfa) premiers carlton in 1887, winning 9 goals three, , against visiting british team in 1888, winning 6 goals three.
