amish cemetery, located @ 14702 doty road, behind amish school, half mile west of milan center.
barnett chapel cemetery, located on northwest corner of state road 37 (maysville turnpike) , barnett road. lutheran. earliest date 1875.
gar creek union cemetery, located on gar creek road, 0.3 miles east of berthaud road. private. earliest date december 23, 1884.
irving family cemetery, located on south bank of maumee river, north of b.f. goodrich tire plant, on u.s. 24, on goodrich land. earliest date 1847.
platter family cemetery, located 0.2 miles south of platter bridge on northeast bank of maumee river. 1 stone: 1852.
saint paul s lutheran cemetery @ gar creek, located next church on berthaud road, 0.2 miles south of bremer road. earliest date 1884.
schwartz family cemetery, located on north side of irving road 0.1 mile east of bruick road. amish. no markers.

historically significant churches

the first township religious meeting held @ catherine shell’s ridge road log schoolhouse, in 1845. services conducted rev. true pattee, affiliated m. e. church. district schools first meeting places of various religious denominations, no township church buildings erected prior 1880.



milan evangelical lutheran church (barnett chapel) , cemetery @ state road 37 , barnett road. organized in 1864. merged st. mark s lutheran church, harlan (springfield township) in 1921. part of holy trinity lutheran church (see springfield township).
st. paul s evangelical lutheran church-gar creek , cemetery @ 1910 n. berthaud road. organized in 1880 members of emanuel evangelical lutheran church, new haven. birth, baptism, confirmation, marriage , death records exist since 1880. records in german. records have been photocopied , available @ allen county public library.
milan center methodist protestant church @ corner of doty , milan center roads. organized in 1905/06 when series of meetings held in old milan center schoolhouse. land donated , construction on church begun in 1906. church disbanded sometime after 1954. records may located @ depauw university library, greencastle, in. church building has been utilized various congregations since.
the gar creek mennonite church defunct. in 1854, mennonites first settled @ gar creek, village 11 miles (18 km) northeast of fort wayne, indiana. among them michael rothgeb, abram , jacob bixler, john federspiel, hezekiah rothgeb, , nancy lowery. services held in bethel chapel, union building. there no resident minister. eli stoffer, minister in hudson (indiana) congregation, , others conducted occasional services. in 1900 there 20 members. after establishing of fort wayne mission in 1903, mission workers assumed responsibility services @ gar creek. on 22 october 1905 building rededicated church services. regular services discontinued 1910.
