type 92 - adrian helmet later replaced japanese designed helmet called type 92 (1932). officially called tetsubo (steel cap) called tetsukabuto ( steel helmet ) troops. made in shape of dome short protruding rim way around (the paratroop version had short brim in front). helmet made of thin inferior chrome-molybdenum steel many proving fragile, being pierced shrapnel and/or gunfire. star (or anchor ijn) soldered front , helmet , star painted mustard khaki. whitewashed in winter. tan, khaki or olive-green 2 layer, fiber reinforced linen cover available yellow star sewn on front. helmet secured head elaborate set of straps descended of kabuto samurai helmet. able worn on reversed field cap. camouflage nets worn on helmet in southern theatre , pacific island campaign.
tropical helmets -

type 90 - cork helmet issued european imperial powers. had metal ventilator @ top, couple of ventilation eyelets on either side , brown leather chinstrap. worn officers.
