pentaceratops large ceratopsid, dodson estimated body length @ 6 meters, skull length of amnh 1624 @ 2.3 meters while pmu r.200 has length of 216 centimeters. nose horn of pentaceratops small , pointing upwards , backwards. brow horns long , curving forwards. upward tilted frill of pentaceratops considerably longer of triceratops, 2 large holes (parietal fenestrae) in it. rectangular, adorned large triangular osteoderms: twelve episquamosals @ squamosal , 3 epiparietals @ parietal bone. these largest @ rear corners of frill, separated large u-shaped notch @ midline, feature not recognized until 1981 when specimen ukvp 16100 described. within notch first epiparietals point forwards. thick jugal , squamosal not touch each other, possible autapomorphy.


the torso of pentaceratops tall , wide. rear dorsal vertebrae bear long spines perhaps ligaments ran front, balance high frill. prepubis long. ischium long , curves forward. smaller specimens thigh bone bows outwards.
