several cephalosporins associated hypoprothrombinemia , disulfiram-like reaction ethanol. these include latamoxef (moxalactam), cefmenoxime, cefoperazone, cefamandole, cefmetazole, , cefotetan. thought due n-methylthiotetrazole side-chain of these cephalosporins, blocks enzyme vitamin k epoxide reductase (likely causing hypothrombinemia) , aldehyde dehydrogenase (causing alcohol intolerance). thus, consumption of alcohol after taking cephalosporin orally or intravenously contraindicated, , in severe cases can lead death.
