in 2007 nascar craftsman truck series, bires driver of #21 wood brothers racing truck in 19 races, handing on driving duties other 6 races veteran mark martin. had tenth-place finish @ atlanta. after departure of jon wood due illness, bires left truck series , started racing tad geschickter beginning @ nashville superspeedway. best busch series start 26th , best finish 7th in meijer 300 presented oreo race @ kentucky speedway. named permanent driver of #47 car in 2008, bires had 6 top-ten finishes en route 13th-place points finish. clorox/kingsford moving marcos ambrose sprint cup series, left without full-time ride @ end of season due lack of sponsorship.

bires spent 2009 season driving various teams, including braun racing, msrp motorsports, , jtg did start , park, competing kevin harvick incorporated , cjm racing. best finish year came @ iowa speedway, finished fifth in bruan s fraternal order of eagles toyota. bires had 10th-place finish khi @ nashville. @ end of season, bires signed two-year contract drive jr motorsports in #88 chevy through 2011, earnhardt eager see bires in equipment. bires drove #5 ragu chevy junior @ homestead in preparation running full-time in 2010.


due sponsorship obligations unilever , hellmann s mayonnaise brand, dale earnhardt jr. ran #88 car @ 2010 season opener @ daytona , danica patrick ran #7 car sponsor godaddy.com, forcing bires sit out. in debut @ fontana, did have seventh-place finish. more curious missing daytona when bires removed #88 car in favor of cup driver jamie mcmurray after 5 races run, 1 finish below 17th (a crash @ las vegas). earnhardt jr. cited chemistry issues between bires, jr motorsports management, , team including tony eury, sr. , jr., , implied bires taking seat next brad [keselowski], next jeff gordon. prior brad keselowski, team had hastily released mark mcfarland in 2006 after 21 races , shane huffman in 2007 after 18 races. bires returned braun racing #10 @ richmond, finished 11th, ran races baker-curb racing, team rensi motorsports, , rab racing.


bires returned nationwide series in 2011, driving rensi. however, bires had start , park #25 on numerous occasions, , withdrew 2 races. after rensi cut schedule, bires hired joe gibbs racing drive #18 toyota @ richmond , chicagoland. bires ran 2 races start , park in go green racing s 04 car.


bires attempted 6 races in sprint cup series in 2012 go green, making 3 races finishing no better 38th. bires released both cup , nationwide rides in november.


in 2013, bires became crew chief late model team of matt kenseth s son ross kenseth.
