on july 17, endo unsuccessfully challenged longtime friend , tag team partner takeshita takeshita s ko-d openweight championship. after match, daisuke sasaki made way ring, carrying damnation t-shirt , offering endo spot in group. @ same time, takeshita offered handshake sign of respect longtime friend. endo pushed takeshita away, taking damnation t-shirt instead, attacking takeshita, joining damnation , turning heel first time in career. on august 6, endo, sasaki , mad paulie defeated shuten doji (kota umeda, masahiro takanashi , yukio sakaguchi) in finals of tournament win ko-d 6 man tag team championships. on october 9, endo , sasaki won ko-d tag team championships, becoming double champions, however, on december 4, endo , sasaki lost ko-d tag team championships takeshita , mike bailey , on december 11 lost ko-d 6 man tag team championships shuten doji (takanashi, sakaguchi , kudo). on march 20, 2017, endo , shuji ishikawa unsuccessfully challenged sakaguchi , masakatsu funaki ko-d tag team championship. on june 25, endo defeated harashima in final win 2017 king of ddt tournament.
