the first set of battles lasted 4 months nguyễn armies not defeated , phú xuân not taken. royal army withdrew north regroup. nguyễn began building of massive pair of walls defend lands. pair of walls, south of linh river, grew length of 11 miles, stretching sea mountains. walls each 20 feet tall , equipped many cannons of european design.
