the telegram house occupied on march 14. on night of march 15 british troops began occupy key buildings , arrest turkish nationalists. messy operation. 10th division , military music school resisted arrest. @ least 10 students killed gunfire british indian troops. total death toll unknown. on march 18 ottoman parliament met , sent protest allies; unacceptable arrest 5 of members declared parliament. marked end of ottoman political system. british move on parliament left sultan sole controller of empire; without parliament sultan stood alone british. beginning march 18, sultan become puppet of british foreign department, saying, there no 1 left blame coming ; sultan revealed own version of declaration of dissolution on april 11, after approximately 150 politicians exiled malta.


the dissolution of parliament followed raid , closing of journal yeni gün (new day). yeni gün owned yunus nadi abalıoğlu, influential journalist, , main media organ publishing news outside world.
