the year of death not known. interred in still-extant erhard-crypt @ niedermünster, , miracles wrought @ grave, guarded in middle ages erhardinonnen, religious community of women observed there perpetual round of prayer.


otto ii, in 974, made donations of properties in danube valley convent holy confessor erhard rests . on 7 oct 1052 remains of holy bishops erhard , saint wolfgang raised pope leo ix in presence of emperor henry iii , many bishops, ceremony @ time equivalent canonization. regensburg documents, however, mention raising of wolfgang, not of erhard.


at close of eleventh century, paul von bernried, monk of fulda, @ suggestion of abbess heilika of niedermünster, wrote life of erhard , added second book containing number of miracles. learned canon of regensburg, conrad of megenberg (d. 1374), furnished new edition of work. church in niedermünster, parish church, still preserves crosier of saint, made of black buffalo-horn. bone of skull enclosed in precious receptacle in 1866 , placed upon heads of faithful on feast day, 8 january.
