nissan renewed auster , stanza lines in 1986 (t12 series), introducing squared-off styling. japan , received model. stanza used same ca20e engine found in previous generation. car unusually heavy class, due sharing platform contemporary maxima , result of small engine, underpowered. in part offset this, export markets offered turbocharged models, badged supremo ; , cousin, auster xtt .


europe received version of nissan auster datsun/nissan bluebird replacement. these built in sunderland, in united kingdom, , badged nissan bluebird. estate real bluebird in range, imported japan.


in middle east, nissan stanza t12 called nissan liberta (not liberta villa), alternative replacement of nissan liberta violet t11.


the stanza line not seen in other export markets after 1986 model year. growth of sunny , pulsar models below meant there little room it.


bluebird (europe)

the t12 introduced in europe in 1985 replacement u11 bluebird. july 1986, t12 assembled parts shipped in japan, @ nissan motor manufacturing uk. saloon versions (four door) available first , hatchback (five door) became available in january 1987. using u11 platform, bluebird estates still sourced japan. although not first japanese car built in britain (the honda-based triumph acclaim predated 5 years), bluebird instrumental in proving british factory produce vehicles same quality standards built in japan. bluebird proved popular in december 1987 nissan announced institution of third shift, in order bump production 29,000 circa 40,000 cars annually.
