according u.s. census bureau, county has total area of 824 square miles (2,130 km), of 800 square miles (2,100 km) land , 24 square miles (62 km) (2.9%) water. fourth-largest county in georgia land area , third-largest total area. eastern , southeastern portions of county lie within okefenokee swamp , federally protected areas.


the vast majority of clinch county located in upper suwannee river sub-basin of suwannee river basin, portion of western , northwestern edge of county, southwest , northwest of du pont, located in alapaha river sub-basin of same suwannee river basin.
