in may 2006 city recreation , parks committee held public hearing on proposed rules restrict unleashed dogs orchard area of park. hearing drew strong opposition , proposal tabled. spurred leash controversy, friends of cranbury park formed month both support keeping many areas open unleashed dogs , improve park in general. in july 2006 group planted more 50 perennials, including butterfly , rose-of-sharon bushes, create butterfly garden in park.


a new entrance , exit park, lined daffodils planted volunteers previous october, opened in may 2007. near new front gates, city plans make partially refurbished pump house information center person assigned track visitors , alert them park regulations. 1 of former entrances park, on grumman avenue, become exit, according city officials. kensett avenue entrance closed , used emergencies or large events. officials of city parks , recreation department said in 2007 plans restore estate s formal gardens , small, 800-square-foot (74 m) tea house.


in 2008, friends of cranbury park , city recreation , parks department announced classes offered @ park on such subjects dog obedience, frisbee, yoga, tai chi, watercolor painting , photography.
