the initial version of catweasel introduced in 1996 , has since undergone several revisions. catweasel mk1 , mk2, commodore amiga 1200 , amiga 4000, sold out in october 2001. mk3 added pci compatibility , sold out in mid-2004. succeeded mk4. mk2 re-released in 2006 special anniversary edition .


mk1

the original version of catweasel introduced in 1996 amiga computer, , available in 2 versions - 1 commodore amiga 1200 , 1 amiga 4000. amiga 1200 version connected machine s clock port; amiga 4000 version connected machine s ide port. pass-through provided on amiga 4000 version ide port still used mass storage devices.


isa

a version of catweasel controller developed use in standard pc isa slot means of reading custom non-pc floppy formats ms-dos. custom dos commands required use interface. official software , drivers available windows.


mk2 , mk2 anniversary edition

the mk2 catweasel redesign of original catweasel, merging amiga 1200 , amiga 4000 versions single product used on both computers, , providing new pcb layout allowed more installed in standard amiga 1200 case.


the continued popularity of catweasel mk2 led special anniversary edition of model being released in 2006. pcb of anniversary edition received minor updates, retained same form factor , functionality mk2.


z-ii

the catweasel z-ii version amiga zorro-ii expansion combined catweasel mk2 controller individual computers product, buddha, on single board providing floppy , ide interfaces host computer.


mk3

the catweasel mk3 designed interface either pci slot, amiga zorro ii slot or clock port of amiga 1200. in addition low-level access granted floppy drives, has socket commodore 64 sid sound chip, port amiga 2000 keyboard, , 2 9-pin digital joysticks (atari 2600 de facto standard). mk3 succeeded mk4.


mk4 , mk4plus

the catweasel mk4 officially announced on 18 july 2004, wide array of new features planned. however, due manufacturing delays , production backlogs, mk4 not released until february 2005.


this version of catweasel makes heavy use of reconfigurable logic in form of altera acex ep1k30tc144-3n fpga chip, amd mach110 pld , pci interface ic. mk4/mk4+ driver uploads fpga microcode on start, makes easy updates possible without having replace hardware.

the catweasel mk4plus appears no longer available.
