las vegas home las vegas raiders of national football league (nfl) beginning sometime after 2017 nfl season. on march 27, 2017, nfl owners voted 31–1 approve oakland raiders move las vegas, continue play @ oakland–alameda county coliseum in oakland in 2017 , possibly longer, until new stadium, las vegas stadium, built in time 2020 nfl season.


prior raiders approved relocation las vegas, professional outdoor football had been attempted 3 times in area. first 2 attempts, xfl s las vegas outlaws , canadian football league s las vegas posse, unsuccessful, both teams folding after 1 season of play. xfl folded outright, while posse failure @ box office, part of cfl s failed u.s. expansion attempt. third attempt @ professional football begun in fall of 2009 united football league s las vegas locomotives; however, franchise , league folded in 2012. locomotives played in league s first 3 championship games, winning first 2 in 2009 , 2010.
