max joined property advisors dtz undertake professional training become chartered surveyor. passed assessment of professional competence (apc) in 1994 , became member of royal institution of chartered surveyors (mrics). in 1995 became associate director, , in 1997 promoted director.

max semi-finalist in first series of reality tv show apprentice. screened on bbc2 in 2005, contestants competed £100,000-a-year job apprentice british business magnate lord alan sugar. project manager 3 times during show. on winning team in 8 out of possible ten tasks (a feat since matched lucinda ledgerwood). included being on winning team 6 tasks in row, making him record holder highest number of successive wins on programme until series 7, when helen milligan exceeded number. fired sugar in interview round (episode 11). worth noting job had left before appearing on apprentice had higher salary eventual top prize offered on show. in autobiography, lord sugar states fired max apprentice felt using show route media career. max has, however, stated publicly never intention.

since apprentice, max has developed career in media , broadcast whilst continuing business activities.

from may 2006 until august 2013, max presented on lbc 97.3. presenting weekly business show business matters , has presented range of shows on station. in addition weekend breakfast, regularly covered colleagues before sudden departure on 28 august 2013. announced departure on twitter feed making clear not choice. during 2012, covered nick ferrari @ breakfast, james whale s drive, james o brien s mid-morning show, julia hartley brewer s afternoon show , in october, covered steve allen s breakfast, when mr allen took week off go las vegas. presenting weekday business update on talksport april 2006 may 2008, presented range of late night, overnight , saturday evening shows on station.

in october 2007, max started 10-week run of new saturday show called finer things in life aired, live, every saturday night on station between 5pm , 6pm. in january 2008, max presented breakfast show 5am 7am on fridays , 6am 8am on saturdays.

between 2007 , 2009, presented , appeared regular panellist on overseas property tv. max presents property week magazine s monthly podcast, , wrote monthly lifestyle column entitled weekend between 2005 , 2008.

max reviews newspapers on sky news. has become regular on both evening shows , on sunrise. current affairs commentator. regularly appears pundit on jeremy vine s bbc radio 2 show.
