the united opposition coalition created makati city mayor jejomar binay on june 2005 unite politicians wished impeach philippine president gloria macapagal arroyo. uno started scouting candidates senate october 2006 claim large share of senate seats. on january 2007, uno started short-listing nominees after large number of interested personalities wanted join opposition. uno changed name on february 12, 2007 @ club filipino in san juan, metro manila grand , broad coalition (gbc). on february 15, 2007 group changed named again genuine opposition (go) after meeting senate president manny villar in office in las piñas. go became opposition coalition 8 parties under wing, including predecessor, uno. though senate president manny villar , senate majority leader francis pangilinan running under opposition, remain independent candidates in 2001 election. on february 28, 2007, genuine opposition dropped kiko pangilinan adopted candidate. after elections, go reverted being united opposition, binay head, still maintaining support of other parties comprised go.
