she had short sentimental attachment john palmer , admired , followed charles fox. lord derby reportedly treated more respect given ex-actresses. hazlitt speaks of miss farren, fine-lady airs , graces, elegant turn of head , motion of fan , tripping of tongue (criticisms , dramatic essays, 1851, p. 49). richard cumberland (memoirs, ii. 236) mentions style exquisite. george colman younger (random recollections, 1. 251) says of lovely , accomplished miss farren no person ever more performed elegant levies of lady townly. tate wilkinson credits infinite merit (wandering patentee, iii. 42). boaden (life of siddons, ii. 318) says after retirement comedy degenerated farce. horace walpole spoke of perfect actress had ever seen, , mrs. siddons, on day of farren’s marriage, commiserated loss of our comic muse.
